Antelope

Animals are rarely found in the wild yet, due to increased constraints of their habitat by agriculture and growing settlements. In order to protect them from extinction many reservations have been founded. Depending on the region you can find there elephants, lions, apes (baboons and guenons) as well as hippopotami, water buffalos, gazelles, antelopes and warthogs. Nowadays, giraffes are very scarce and jackals, porcupines and hyenas are rarely to be found.

Turtles count to the seldom reptiles in contrast to crocodiles, iguanas and lizards.

In addition Senegal disposes of an ample world of birds with more than 200 different species. Pelicans, vultures and guinea fowls are sighted very often.
