West African Preservation Programme for Endangered Species

Headquarters

WAPPES is a public company that was founded to beware the nature in Senegal, especially in the Sahelian zone, from the advancing desertification.

An innovative form of cooperation between research, nature conservation and ecotourism is emerging on our 200.000 ha big terrain in order to better serve the nature. Thanks to the already existing assurance signed by the state we will gradually expand the project on the total area of the "Reserve du Ferlo-Sud" of 682.000 ha.

Our help enables animals and plants, which have been classified as endangered by IUCN (International Union for the Conversation of Nature and Natural Resources), to return to their natural environment. With the introduction of carefully chosen plants we intend to stop the advancing desert and consequently restore the biosphere in Senegal in a sustainable manner.
